The Situation
The client, a global company, which has made considerable investments in an SAM program. It has worked on the data collection, established the SAM processes, has invested in a SAM tool and created a SAM services centre.
The client was interested to understand how audit ready the outcomes were and how well the tool-set had been implemented.

Our Solution
For the SLM Health check we followed standard audit principles and cover a complete review of the solution and validate if outcomes, based on sampling of the major license management components, meet the required quality levels for evidence of licensing.
The SLM Health Check looks at core components of Software License Management. It covers all process steps, from the handling of purchased software rights up to the compliance calculation based on installed licenses.
Conclusion
As a result of the Health check the Client received a validation of the current SAM tool configuration for a specific software publisher, including identification of any gaps or distortions that can be addressed and a reconciliation of Clients Current Software entitlements relative to what is indicated in the current report coming out of the toolset.
It additionally provided an “Audit Readiness” opinion informing of exhaustiveness and accuracy of the current configuration in the event the outputs are required to establish an audit position. And finally, it delivered an independent, expert opinion of the quality of the SAM tool’s installation.
As the result of the health check a program was started to further improve processes and solution configuration as well as to start the outsourcing of the management of the most complex global contracts.
